Corruptions of the Sacred Name in Words People Use

    In the book The Two Babylons is a chapter called The Deification of the Child , where Alexander Hislop tells how the heathen had elements of truth but were misapplied to other gods, like Tammuz, son of Semiramis.

    "As the true Messiah was prophesied of under the title of the 'Man whose name was the branch', he was celebrated not only as the 'Branch of Cush', but as the 'Branch of God', graciously given to the earth for healing all the ills that flesh is heir to.  He was worshipped in Babylon under the name of El-bar, or 'God the Son'. Under this very name he is introduced by Berosus, the Chaldean historian, as the second in the list of Babylonian sovereigns.  Under this name he has been found in sculptures of Nineveh by Layard, the name Bar 'the son', having the sign denoting El or 'God' prefixed to it.  Under the same name he has been found by Sir H. Rawlinson, the name 'Beltis' and the 'Shining Bar' being in immediate juxtaposition Under the name Bar he was worshipped in Egypt in the earliest times, though in later times the god Bar was degraded in the popular Pantheon, to make way for another more popular divinity.  In Pagan Rome itself, as Ovid testifies, he was worshipped under the name of the 'Eternal Boy'.  Thus daringly and directly was a mere mortal set up in Babylon in opposition to the 'Son of the Blessed'." p. 73, 74

    Now let's focus in on the term "Eternal Boy"!  The footnote states, "To under- stand the true meaning of the above expression, reference must be had to a remarkable form of oath among Romans.  In Rome the most sacred form of an oath was 'Per Jovem LAPIDEM', 'By Jupiter the Stone'.  This, as it stands, is nonsense.  But translate lapidem back into the sacred tongue, or Chaldee, and the oath stands, 'By Jove, the Son', or 'By the son of Jove'.  Ben, which in Hebrew is Son, in Chaldee becomes Eben, which also signifies a stone, as may be seen in 'Ebenezar' 'The stone of help'(I Sam. 7:12 margin).  Now as the most learned inquirers into antiquity have admitted that the Roman Jovis, which was anciently nominative, is just a form of the Hebrew Jehovah, it is evident that the oath had originally been, 'by the son of Jehovah'.  This explains how the most solemn and binding oath had been taken in the form above referred to; and, it shows, also, what was really meant when Bacchus, 'the son of Jovis', was called 'The Eternal Boy'."

     Now take notice some etymology traces on words like "young" and juvenile.

Spanish

 French

Latin

joven = young, youthful

jeune= young

juvenis = young, sportive

jovencillo= youngster, lad

jeudi=Thursday, Jove's day

juvenculus= youth, lad

jovenzuelo= youngish

joue (ju)=cheek

juvencus=youthful

jovial=Jovian, gay, merry

jouer=to play with

juvenca=young woman

jovialidad=joviality

joueur=football player

juvenor=to act like a young

jouet=to be the victim

juventas= goddess of youth

joujou=toy

     The word young which in Spanish is joven, in French is jeune, which traces back to Latin is juvenis and to Lithuanian which is jaunas, and traces back to Sanskrit is yuwana, also yuva  'young' and yuvasas 'youthful'.  In Welsh is ieuanc, and in Armoric, a Celtic dialect, is yaouncq.  One of the related Hebrew words is #3126 yoneq, it is used only one time in Scripture to describe YAHUSHUA in Isaiah 53:2 and is translated 'tender plant'.  A related word is #3127 yoneqeth translated young twigs in Ezek. 17:22 and everywhere else as branch, tender branch, or branches.

 It appears that the Hebrew original was Yahuneq, and Yahuneqeth, which after the Babylonian captivity was corrupted to "yo" at the beginning.

Other words that are related to "young" are joy, jolly, juggle, joke, jump, and juice or juse 'the sap of life' etc.  The words juvenile and junior really bares it out.

   The idea evidently is to feel good and be full of energy and life, as in the youth, which must be somewhat like it must have been like in Eden.

   James Adair said the American Indians did the same thing, "Wah, the last syllable of the great divine name, is evidently the radix, and magnifies the virtuous idea to a superlative." History of the American Indians p. 58 (no room to give example

   The first part of these words "Ju", "Jo", "you" etc., all relates back to Jove, and Jova.  But Jova doesn't have the heathenism attached to it that Jove does.  Which going back further was "Ioua" and "Ioue".  For example take the word "Judah" in Latin was "Iuda", which traced back to Greek as Iouda, which traces back to the original Hebrew which was Yahudah.  The first part "Yahu", is the first part of the sacred name.  Which is seen in the prophets name "Eliyahu" meaning "my Elohim is YAHUWAH", see I Kings 17:1 margin.  Jehu (originally Yahu) in the LXX is "Iou", the English text beside has "Ju".

   Thursday in Latin is Dies Jovis(Jove's day), in French is Jeudi, in Spanish Jueves but in Welsh is Dydd Iau, and the Bretons Iaou, Diziaou.  Even Clement of Alexandria wrote the sacred name to the Greeks as Iaou.  Hinting at a "Yahu" original.

    These same concepts are seen in everyday names as well, take the name "John" for instance, though Strong's has Yehochanan originally it was Yahuchanan.  This name was corrupted into other languages as Juan (Spanish), Ivan (Russian), Evan Welsh, Jovan (Serbian), Juha (Finnish) and Yvaine.  Not to mention the feminine versions, which are to many to list, but just a few for illustration purposes.  Juana, Juanita, Ivana.

    Take for instance Yves the French form of Germanic "yew tree".  Ives  is a variation.  "Yvon Old French Ivon, a form of Yves." The Ultimate Baby Name Book

 The feminine forms Yvonne, Evonne, Ivonne, Yvette.  These "Iv's", "Yv's", "Ev's", "Ju's", etc. are all corruptions of "Yahu"!  We're only scratching the surface.

    Take another name we are all familiar with which is Julius, according to The Ultimate Baby Name Book means "descended from Jove (Jupiter)".  And there are many variation of this Julio, July, Julian, Yul, Jule, Jules etc., and the feminine forms Julia, Julie, Juliette, Julietta, Julianna, Julianne, Juliet etc.  Even  Juno, June are also related to Jupiter, "piter" is "pater" meaning "father" Ju.

    Juga, the goddess of marriage; is a surname of Juno, Yugoslavia is related.

    Juggernaut means 'lord of the world', and is a Krishna title. Which part means 'lord'?

    Adam Clarke stated, "Even the heathens knew this name of the true God; hence out of our  Yehovah they formed their Jao, Jeve, and Jove." Further down he shows a variant  Jeue.  Commentary on Ex. 3:14.

    The Spanish Thursday is called Jueves (Jove's day), these forms Jeve and Jeue are corruptions of the tetragrammaton     which in paleo-Greek was    literally IEUE, though modernly written IHYH (their 'H' is an 'E', and their 'U' is a 'Y').

    I'm not trying to say that all these corruptions are a good thing, or that they are approved of heaven.  The Creator said, "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips." Psalm 89:34.  The sacred name is one of those things which is gone out of His lips on mount Sinai when He spoke the covenant.

 Only the original which He delivered is blessed.  The same principle with the Sabbath day.  The day which YAHUWAH sanctified or set aside is blessed, man cannot make a day holy, and neither can he make a name sacred through culture and time.  Therefore fear YAHUWAH and give glory to Him.
